Web Start

Thanks to Java Web Start, there is an easy way to start Jomic directly from this page. Nevertheless, your system must fulfill the following requirements:

1. At least Java 1.4 is installed (which already includes Java Web Start).
2. At least version 3.50 of the unrar command is within system search path ($PATH on Unixoid platforms, %PATH% on MS-DOS-based platforms.)
3. For a reasonable user experience, at least 256 MB of RAM are recommended. (It works with less memory, but big images might result in swapping.)

Note that Java Web Start can create an Icon for Jomic on the desktop. This enables you to run Jomic even if offline.

Currently, there are some some minor issues with the implementation:

• Upon the first start, a dialog asks if you want top give Jomic full access to your machine. This happens because Jomic needs to run unrar as external command, which is not possible with the strict Web Start default security settings.
• Upon the first start, a dialog asks: Do you want to trust the signed application...? This happens because the JARs use a self-signed certificate, which is free, instead of an offical one, which costs money. The reasoning should be obvious.
